International Earth Day is this Saturday! While we are all looking to be more sustainable in our day to day lives, one area often overlooked is our homeware and furniture consumption. In fact we throw away 22 million pieces of furniture every year in the UK. As well as landfill waste, mass produced furniture also contributes to global deforestation and increases in harmful greenhouse emissions.

We’re great believers that small changes can make a big impact. By supporting independent brands, choosing vintage or resale before new, and buying artisan made and bespoke pieces instead of mass produced items significantly reduces your environmental footprint.

This Earth Day we are thrilled to have collaborated with Seep to help keep your house cleaning routine ‘cleaner’ than ever.

Like so many brilliant ideas, Seep was born out of a sense of frustration. While eco cleaning products have become more widely available over the last 20 years, the tools with which we clean our homes - cloths, sponges, scourers - have languished resolutely a sea of plastic. Enter Laura Harnett, an eco-conscious mother of two from London who decided to address this lack by launching Seep (Sustainable Essential Everyday Products) to produce truly plastic-free cleaning products and clean up the way we clean.

The company sell a range of cellulose and loofah scourers, cleaning cloths made from plant fibres, biodegradable bin liners and ethically made fair trade FSC natural rubber gloves. All products are fully compostable, as the company believes that everyone should be able to carry out their household chores without hurting the planet.
