I originally worked in fashion, after studying at Saint Martins, as a designer for Parisian designer Sonia Rykiel. My love for fashion illustration I think paved the way for me to explore new ways of mark making, leading me to develop my own business. I like to vary in styles as I think it is more interesting not only for me, but for onlookers. I think it's healthy to switch things up and be spontaneous now and again without thinking if it fits in with your aesthetic or not. I find the most inspiring artists are unpredictable.
I have always been inspired by the figurative, creating awkward silhouettes is interesting for me. I have also always had a fascination with harlequins and Venice. During my time at Saint Martins my love for the Comme des Garcons archive grew, which is always an influence. I like to contrast old and new references together, I think in a way that is instantly modern, when something new comes from it.

I think working in Paris really influenced my design choices, I learnt so much about the importance of colour combinations and how to push for new and strange ones. Pushing the boundaries of shapes and silhouette, also always influences me. The obsession with perfection and quality in Paris was also highly inspiring, I strive to apply the same methods to my business.Working with stylists such as Camille Bidault Waddington and other creative directors, including Sonia Rykeil, was super inspiring. Andy Warhol was also fascinated by Sonia Rykiel. Her home was fabulous, across from the studio in Saint Germain des Pres. Super chic, moody dark with lots of neon and the famous Warhol picture of her propped up on the stairs!
The freedom that it gives me, zoning out and feeling fluid and spontaneous.

I find that florals and bright walls always look great with my pieces - I also enjoy seeing them in minimal spaces.
My next plan is to create artwork throughout the home on walls, interior and exterior. I'm thinking of going much bigger in scale. I am also currently developing more of the textured pieces which I want to apply to furniture this year.
